Patient Service Representative - Associate (Laredo Dental Clinic)

Job Summary:

This position will be located at our UT Health Laredo Dental Clinic. Under direct supervision, this role will provide customer service to patients by scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorization, and providing telephone triage.

Job Duties:

  • Greets patients, verifies insurance coverage and eligibility, reviews new patient registration, obtains authorizations, assists in collecting copays, and data entry of new patient information.
  • Maintains medical and insurance referral records and prepares patient charts.
  • Ensures test results are filed and uploaded to EMR.
  • Handles and answers all phone calls and transfers calls to the appropriate departments as needed.
  • Manages patient appointments according to the physician's schedules and/or protocols.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Education:

    • A high school diploma or GED is required.

    Experience:

    • One (1) year of related clerical or healthcare-related experience is required. One (1) year experience in a dental clinic preferred.
    • Bilingual in Spanish is strongly suggested.  
    • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to promptly coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements.
    • Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to monitor essential and complex projects.
    • Must have strong customer service skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
    • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing, including writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.

    This position is located full-time at our Laredo Dental Clinic.
