The School of Continuing Studies and the kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre have developed credit courses in Indigenous Studies as part of the pimâcihisowin Foundation Program, that can lead to a Certificate of Achievement in Indigenous Studies or can be taken by undergraduate students as electives. Indigenous 100 is part of a dual-credit program of study with a number of School Districts in Alberta. There are opportunities to expand programming and collaborations relating to credit and non-credit courses.

The School of Continuing Education invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.

We are seeking applications from individuals with lived Indigenous experiences and grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. The successful candidate will develop and instruct Indigenous focused courses for the School of Continuing Education and collaborate with faculty colleagues throughout the university. The successful candidate would be expected to work closely with kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre and have good relationships with Indigenous communities.


Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in post-secondary instruction; a combination of relevant work experience and knowledge may be considered. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field are preferred; however, consideration will be given to candidates with a minimum of a Master’s degree. Teaching experience and a strong understanding of the principles of adult education and curriculum development will be strong assets for the successful candidate. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and be able to work as a collaborative team member.

In addition to an interdisciplinary teaching workload within the unit, the successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching undergraduate students and have a willingness to engage in service to the Department, Faculty, and University.
