Job Description

 

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Assistant Manager at the Department of Social Work, NUS.  The candidate will administer the graduate programmes in Social Work Department namely Graduate Diploma in Social Work (GDSW), Master of Social Work (MSW) via research or coursework and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

 

The primary role is to support the core functions and administration of graduate programmes for Social Work Department, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process applications for admission and work with selection committee to shortlist applicants
  • Co-ordinate and organise briefing sessions for new students admitted for various graduate programmes
  • Manage and support full cycle of field placement exercise for Graduate Diploma in Social Work (GDSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programmes 
  • Manage teaching curriculum functions i.e. exam, timetable set-up and module registration
  • Assist in students’ enquiries on coursework programme and thesis related matters
  • Handle student curricular matters i.e. applications for Leave of Absence, Conversion of Candidature, etc
  • Manage academic staffing and appointment matters 
  • Assist part-time teaching staff in teaching related matters ie setting up of NUS account, Library membership, uploading of module information etc.
  • Handle student statistics reporting where required
  • Handle curriculum matters, and work with internal departments and grantors on funding matters 
  • Any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer / Head of Department as and when required

Qualifications

A good Bachelors Degree

Minimum of 3 years work experience, preferably in office management / administrative roles related to the education industry (although not a requirement)

Meticulous, systematic and well-organized and be able to multi-task

Pleasant personality and clear-minded thinking

Possess effective communication and written skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
