Group and project information

Applicants will be integrated into the research group “”; (P.I. Juana Gómez-Benito), a multidisciplinary team particularly concerned with problems that affect people’s health and quality of life, with special emphasis placed on the design and methodological validation of new measurement instruments.

Project description

The project where you will be involved is entitled “Toward recovery in people diagnosed with a severe mental disorder: Definition, assessment and intervention (RECO-DAI)”. The project aims: 1) To achieve an internationally consensual definition of recovery in severe mental disorders that incorporates the perspectives of all agents involved (users, relatives and health providers); 2) To provide the healthcare and scientific community with valid and reliable measurement instruments for assessing recovery in severe mental disorders in Spanish populations; and 3) To inquire in existing tools oriented to promote recovery, empowerment, self-determination and wellbeing in mental health recovery processes and evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention program based on the recovery model.

Functions and tasks

The candidate will contribute in different tasks of the project using the current best practices in research synthesis (i.e., systematic reviews and meta-analysis), Delphi studies, development and adaptation of tests, and intervention program evaluation. This implies developing and assessing items for measuring recovery in severe mental disorders, preparing protocols and materials, coordinating data collection via collaborators from different centers, managing and analyzing data, and disseminating results.

Requirements for candidates


  • A minimum of two (2) years’ post-doctoral experience outside Spain
  • Research experience and a good CV


English: Excellent

Specific Requirements:

  • Not having resided or worked in Spain for more than 12 months over the last three (3) years prior to the deadline for submitting applications (11 March).
  • Candidates must fulfilled eligibility Beatriu de Pinós criteria .

Working conditions

  • Full time temporary contract
  • Duration: 3 years
  • The amount of the grant for the hiring of research staff is €132,300. This sum finances the cost of each contract over the course of the 3 years of the grant, and includes the remuneration to be received by the research staff and employer’s social security contributions.
  • Additionally, the grant also has a supplementary amount of €12,000
