The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team, supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In November 2013, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the 'HR Excellence in Research ' Award from the European Commission. The role

The mission of the Innovation Facilitator will be to support the CRG research groups and management Offices (TBDO and Grants) in fostering the collaboration of the CRG research community with innovation stakeholders in new projects oriented to innovation, and increase the funding for innovation from the new Horizon Europe programme. The selected candidate will be in charge of:

  • Organising ideation sessions with CRG’s scientific community aiming at identifying new innovation project proposals and mapping suitable relevant funding opportunities.
  • Elaborating and maintaining a map of CRG’s Innovation project pipeline and promotional material to foster dissemination and visibility of the scientific and technological expertise of the CRG scientific community. Support follow-up activities.
  • Organising and creating periodic forums to bring together scientific leadership from CRG with external innovation partners (Industry, company founders, investors, consultants...) to effectively create ” eureka ” moments and generate impactful collaborations.
  • Contributing to identify relevant expertise and networks oriented to the implementation of CRG’s Innovation project portfolio seeking engagement of the CRG’s scientific community.
  • Contributing to define the vision and road map of projects to value creation, business opportunity and socioeconomics impact in innovation grant proposals and supporting the execution of the correspondent activities during the implementation of funded projects.
  • Assisting in the development of new public-private collaborations with stakeholders of the pharma, biotech, medtech sectors in the framework of European or other sponsored opportunities for innovation activities.
  • Support the Grants and TBDO Offices to achieve the goals of the call ‘Europa Redes y Gestores’ and manage the activities and teams contributing to it.

Overall, the candidate will represent a critical hub for cooperation across CRG departments, mostly the Technology and Business Development, Grants and International and Scientific Affairs teams.

About the team

The Innovation Facilitator will be part of the Grants and the Technology and Business Development teams. The mission of the Technology and Business Development Office (TBDO) at CRG is to facilitate the exploitation of the institution’s research results for the public good, and to help the economic growth of the life sciences sector in our region. Our will is that scientific results generated at CRG will develop into novel therapeutic, diagnostic and other type of products that will contribute to the wellness of our society.

The mission of the Grants Office is to proactively support the CRG community in securing competitive funds for research and institute-related activities, as well as to manage the principal investigators’ core and external funding, in compliance with the terms and conditions of the funding agencies, and to offer individualized professional support throughout the life cycle of each funded project ( ).
