Job Summary

Provides computer support by troubleshooting and correcting problems with computer hardware or software applications. Hybrid position made up of assistant and entry-level computer positions (including but not limited to: Systems Support Assistant, PC Maintenance Technician, etc.) Assists technicians and other professional IT staff with hardware and software applications. Maintains web sites. Maintain network accounts and programs for specific department needs. Serves as a help desk resource for assigned areas.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provide support for all event requests.
• Event support includes, but is not limited to helping users start/connect to virtual meetings, connect computers to projectors, and provide technical support for computers and other hardware associated with the audio/visual systems.
• Perform help desk core support duties, including but not limited to, imaging and setting up computers, troubleshooting desktops and laptops (Windows and MAC OS), tablets, printers, handheld scanners, label printers, Polycom IP phones, and various other hardware and software within the research environment.
• Adhere to administrative tasks and workflow including but not limited to:
• Communicating to the customer within the time specified.
• Update inventory appropriately.
• Update the ticket system with notes from ticket submission through ticket resolution.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with timely, accurate, professional service and support.
• Coordinate escalation of issues as needed.

NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• General climate controlled environment.
• Low noise level.
• Frequent exposure to research environments.
• Daily, professional communication with users of varying IT abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Sustained attention to detail.
• Prolonged sitting and repetitive motion due to extended computer use.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Required to visit multiple campus locations throughout the workday.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a computer related field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Two years of related experience preferred. Demonstrated computer skills, human relations and effective communication skills are required.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
