Job Summary
 

The Research Specialist position supports imaging biomarker research in a research program with a focus on translational medicine. The candidate will be working with medical imaging data (MRI and MicroCT) in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical and preclinical imaging data acquisition (MRI and microCT).
  • Perform data reconstruction and analysis.
  • Assisting with developing data collection and analytics tools.
  • Assisting with manuscript and grant drafting.
  • Investigate, develop, and implement next generation imaging and image processing technology.
  • Other responsibilities may include assisting with image acquisition from human subjects; imaging tissue from human subjects and animal models; managing data files and clinical database; following established procedures or protocols; and collaborating with other university labs.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (medical physics, physics, bioengineering, or related)
  • Advanced degree in relevant field

Experience:

  • Experience in programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python), operating systems (e.g. Mac OS x, Linux), and imaging analysis software such as ImageJ, Amira, 3D Slicer
  • Experience in human research as it is applied to imaging biomarkers in proof of concept and clinical trials
  • A history of peer-reviewed publications related to field of study

  • Advanced knowledge of research techniques or methods
  • Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures
