The Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) is a 501©(3) non-profit, educational institute and a business center of James Madison University. Founded in 1974, the Institute is grant funded and continuation is contingent upon the ability to maintain self-funding. This is an Administrative and Professional Faculty position with annual reappointment based on effective performance and the needs of the university.

ICPM specializes in developing and certifying managers and leaders at all levels. Its Certified Manager (CM) certification is recognized globally as a sign of managerial competency and leadership potential that distinguishes managers and leaders for hiring and career advancement.

Seeking experienced executive director to oversee all operations, functions and activities. Executive Director is responsible for giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high-quality vision. Needs to be an influential leader with ability to lead and motivate. Must have great communication skills and take a holistic approach in managing operations. The ideal candidate will be able to lead and manage the organization towards the realization of its goals.

This is a twelve-month, Administrative & Professional Faculty position.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the board of Directors to identify, create and implement strategic plans to actualize business objectives.
• Develop the organizational culture and promote transparency and collaboration throughout the organization.
• Develop partnerships with company stakeholders, shareholders, industry regulators and other relevant parties.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities within the organization and its environment to protect business interests.
• Identify potential sources of investment and organize fundraising efforts.
• Represent the company at social and corporate events in ways that strengthen the brand and communicate the company’s message.
• Identify, recruit, train and develop a talented team of employees who can lead critical departments and manage strategic business functions.
• Communicates quarterly to ICPM Board of Regents. Develops and implement strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and voice.
• Develop a culture that values diversity, access and inclusion to ensure organizational excellence.
• Communicates monthly update of KPIs (performance goals) to Executive Team and board members.
• Creates complete business plans for the attainment of goals and objectives set by the board of directors.
• Key component of the job is to build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience leading, guiding, managing teams and operational process to achieve organizational objectives
• Proven integrity and leadership skills with unquestionable ethics.
• Master’s degree in a business discipline
• Demonstrated management experience with a non-profit organization.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Experience in the following areas: trade association, training & development organization, or a certification body.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
