Job Description:

The Program and Outreach Coordinator must have a broad knowledge of the complex research, teaching and service mission of the of East Asian Studies Department. The Coordinator will manage all aspects of internal and external communications as well as support the day-to-day administrative, financial and operational functions of the departments by working collaboratively and independently with faculty, staff, students and serve as a primary point of contact for alumni, University and community partners and other constituents with whom the departments interact in accordance with all department and university policies and procedures and utilizing university resources and technology.  

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of experience and education required. 

  • Previous work within an academic environment and in role that supports communications and development; community outreach; events and programs. 

  • Knowledge of East Asian cultures and languages highly desirable. Diplomacy working with a broad range of cultural backgrounds. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and Adobe applications (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop) with strong aptitude for learning other computerized systems.  Experience with or exposure to academic technology (Banner, Workday) and learning tools highly desirable. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal, as well as via social media outlets), plus ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Evidence of excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
