Position Summary

Instructional responsibilities include teaching FSC 111 Foundational Concepts in Food Processing and Technology (3 Credits) for the Institute of Agricultural Technology during the Fall semester

Course will delivered in Muskegon, Michigan at Muskegon Community College

FSC 111 contact hours will be 3 hours lecture, recitation, or discussion per week in a hybrid format. (3 hours of total contact time per week) for 15 weeks

Course Description:

  • Students will explore major areas of food processing related to Chemistry, Microbiology and Physical Science.
  • Students will gain knowledge in food handling, safety, processing techniques, and current technologies.

Outline of Major Topics:

  • Food Microbiology
  • Principles of Food Physical Science
  • Food technology
  • Food chemistry
  • Food industry
  • Food safety

Position is planned to recur every Fall Semester

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience in teaching introductory Food Science and/or Food Processing
  • Knowledge and skills related to Food Processing
  • Excellent teaching, Oral and Written Communication skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Food Processing, Food Science, or related fields
  • Ph.D. in Food Processing or related fields
  • Experience in development and assessment of learning outcomes
  • Undergraduate teaching experience and a passion for teaching
