General Information

Accounts Payable (AP) at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Travel Analyst. The successful candidate will focus mainly on State funded Athletic Travel Expenditures and Reimbursements utilizing the Chrome River Travel Management System and other Accounts Payable systems and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Analyzes, audits and reviews travel expenditures for accuracy and completeness in conformity with prescribed regulations within the Chrome River Travel Management System and State and University policies prior to payment.
- Works promptly and diligently with others to ensure proper documentation and approvals are provided.
- Makes corrections to expenditures as necessary, to ensure compliance with State and University policies.
- Ensures payments are in compliance with prompt payment regulations by processing payments in an on-line technical environment.
- Possesses a working knowledge of the finance system to include an awareness of the integration between Chrome River, PeopleSoft Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Purchasing with an understanding of how expenditure transactions pass on to the University for payment.
- Reviews, audits, processes payment and reconciles all University lodging direct bill invoices on the SPCC ensuring compliance with State and University policies.


- Moderate experience working in a client/server architecture, relational database and on-line technical systems.
- Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Requires strong attention to detail.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook and Excel.
- Provides professional customer service behaviors such as friendliness and courtesy to vendors, departments and staff.
- Maintains the confidentiality of data according to university policy, state and federal law.

- Experience working with Chrome River Travel Management System or PeopleSoft Accounts Payable system
- Experience in managing the University SPCC
- A working knowledge of Accounts Payable practices and procedures
- Experience with State and University policies, procedures and regulations.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
