Summary of Duties:

Perform general duty security work to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, and prevent and investigate crime. Responsible for enforcing campus regulations and local, state, and federal laws. Monitor crime reports and maintain log of criminal activity on and near campus facilities for inclusion on annual security report. Perform operational checks of safety equipment.
Incumbents may be required to successfully complete a law enforcement course approved by the Washington State and criminal justice training commission.

Required Qualifications:

High School graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver’s license; no previous felony convictions; AND two years of full-time college in police science; OR two years of police or campus security experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check and WSP WATCH.
  • Ability to work a schedule of rotating shifts which may include; nights, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain first aid certification at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the Criminal Justice Training Commission.
  • Ability to obtain a Law Enforcement Commission.
  • Experience working in a diverse environment.
  • Emergency medical training (EMR, EMT, or paramedic) is desirable, but not required.
