One vacant position for a full-time university assistant at the Chair for Designing Plastics and Composite Materials (Department of Polymer Engineering and Science) to be filled by the earliest possible date for a 3 year fixed-term employment (Salary group B1 of the Austrian labor agreement, monthly minimum salary excl. supplements: € 2.971,50 for 40 hours per week (14x per year), actual salary classification will be according to relevant previous work-experience).

Topic: Investigation of the damping response of heterogeneous and micro-structured polymeric materials and components (composites, foams) using the Finite Element Method.

The work is embedded within the young, dynamic team of the chair with a clear focus on the method-based development of fundamental understanding.

Requirements: Master’s Degree in a relevant field in respect to the desired qualifications (e.g. Polymer Science, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics). Proficiency in the German and English language (spoken and written).

Additional qualifications: Experience with the Finite Element Method and associated software (e.g. Abaqus) as well as programming skills (especially Python, C++, Fortran). Sound understanding of the response of polymer materials and modelling thereof (especially dynamic and damping behaviour).

Assets: Motivation, initiative and responsibility; ability to work independently; team skills; interest in scientific research and publication; commitment to obtain a doctoral degree.
