The successful candidate will work as part of a team conducting research in the field of human nutrition. The work will involve conducting dietary intervention and observational studies examining how diet and specific foods can impact on human health through the gut microbiome and metabolome. In particular the position will require the capability to contribute and collaborate in the design and implementation of human dietary interventions.

The successful candidate will be expected to recruit human volunteers, manage human dietary interventions (including preparation of study protocols, ethics documentation, collect, process and store human biofluid samples, collaborate closely with medical doctors and work as part of a team of nutritionists, biologists, chemists and statisticians) and prepare written reports on the results.

The successful candidate will be expected to run clinical equipment including bioimpedentiometer, air densitometer (i.e. BodPod), ecographer (ultrasound) for flow-mediated dilation, calorimeter, as well as conducting experiments with human cell culture and molecular biology.

The successful candidate will contribute to data treatment, data analysis and interpretation including statistical analysis. Duties will include playing an active part of the scientific life of Fondazione Edmund Mach such as outreach activities and staff/student focused training activities.
