Position Highlights

The Student Affairs office is home to the Medical Student Tutoring program, which allows students to work one-on-one or in small groups with peer tutors who have demonstrated a thorough comprehension of the material and the ability to facilitate learning. This position will also assist with training and mentoring individuals involved in tutoring and academic strategy instruction.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix anchors the 28-acre Phoenix Biomedical Campus in the heart of the Valley of the Sun. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare materials for and hold/host a minimum of 1-2 SI sessions per week.
  • Coordinate traditional tutors to lead sessions based on the split of material.
  • Take attendance and complete session reports at SI and small group sessions.
  • Review course content for assigned lectures and develop USMLE style questions.
  • Collaborate with faculty and attend all tutor meetings.
  • Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared during tutoring.
Minimum Qualifications
  • M.D. degree at the time of hire.
  • Must be a graduate of the Pathways Scholar Program.
Preferred Qualifications

- Block scores of 75% or better in all academic coursework.

- Level 2 or better in all behavioral competency areas.

- Graduate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine- Phoenix Campus.
